Callao
Day 46 - 17/03/27 | 7:30am -

When people discuss great South American cities, Lima is often overlooked. But Peru's capital can hold its own against its neighbors. It has an oceanfront setting, colonial-era splendor, sophisticated dining, and nonstop nightlife. It's true that the city—clogged with traffic and choked with fumes—doesn't make a good first impression, especially since the airport is in an industrial neighborhood. But wander around the regal edifices surrounding the Plaza de Armas, among the gnarled olive trees of San Isidro's Parque El Olivar, or along the winding lanes in the coastal community of Barranco, and you'll find yourself charmed. In 1535 Francisco Pizarro found the perfect place for the capital of Spain's colonial empire. On a natural port, the so-called Ciudad de los Reyes (City of Kings) allowed Spain to ship home all the gold the conquistador plundered from the Inca. Lima served as the capital of Spain's South American empire for 300 years, and it's safe to say that no other colonial city enjoyed such power and prestige during this period. When Peru declared its independence from Spain in 1821, the declaration was read in the square that Pizarro had so carefully designed. Many of the colonial-era buildings around the Plaza de Armas are standing today. Walk a few blocks in any direction for churches and elegant houses that reveal just how wealthy this city once was. But the poor state of most buildings attests to the fact that the country's wealthy families have moved to neighborhoods to the south over the past century. The walls that surrounded the city were demolished in 1870, making way for unprecedented growth. A former hacienda became the graceful residential neighborhood of San Isidro. In the early 1920s the construction of tree-lined Avenida Arequipa heralded the development of neighborhoods such as bustling Miraflores and bohemian Barranco.Almost a third of the country's population of 29 million lives in the metropolitan area, many of them in relatively poor conos: newer neighborhoods on the outskirts of the city. Most residents of those neighborhoods moved there from mountain villages during the political violence and poverty that marked the 1980s and ’90s, when crime increased dramatically. During the past decade the country has enjoyed peace and steady economic growth, which have been accompanied by many improvements and refurbishment in the city. Residents who used to steer clear of the historic center now stroll along its streets. And many travelers who once would have avoided the city altogether now plan to spend a day here and end up staying two or three.

San Andrés Island
Day 51 - 25/03/27 | 8:00am - 4:00pm

The San Andres and Providencia archipelago comprises Colombia's Caribbean islands, lying some 290 miles north of the South American coast. Palm-dotted San Andres is only eight miles long and two miles wide. It is noted for beautiful sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and good diving sites. At one time the island belonged to Britain and, according to local lore; it was a favorite hideout for the legendary pirate Henry Morgan. In 1822, San Andres came under the control of Colombia. In recent years the original population has greatly increased due to unrestricted immigration from the mainland. There are also Chinese and Middle Eastern communities. The official language is Spanish but English is widely spoken, especially in shops and hotels. The island is best seen via the scenic ring road that offers views of coves, beaches and palm groves. In the interior stands a Baptist church dating from 1847, and the attraction at the southern end is the Hoyo Soplador, a geyser-like hole where the sea shoots jets of water intermittently into the air during the right wind and sea conditions. On the island's northern tip lies the main town and commercial center, known by the same name as the island. San Andres Town is surrounded by beaches, with small hotels lining the waterfront. Being a duty-free zone, the town often gets crowded with Colombian shoppers who come from the mainland looking for foreign-made goods at duty-free prices. To reach the town from the tender landing requires an approximate 20-minute taxi ride. However, it is not uncommon for drivers to choose the longer way around the island for a higher fare. From the downtown waterfront, boats offer trips to Johnny Cay, a tiny island just a stone's throw across from town and known for its powdery white sand beach and rustic, laid-back atmosphere. San Andres Island’s main attraction is its location off the beaten track, as well as pretty scenery, sandy beaches and clear, warm waters. Tourism infrastructure is limited. Pier Information The ship is scheduled to anchor off El Cove. Guests will be taken ashore via the ship's tenders. The landing site is about a 20-minute drive from San Andres Town. There are plenty of taxi drivers offering their services. Please be sure to agree on the fare before setting out (the one-way fare should be around $30). Keep in mind that not all taxi drivers speak English. Shuttle buses are not available. Shopping Most shops in town carry duty-free imports. At New Point Plaza you will find shops selling local souvenir items and jewelry including emeralds. Some stores close between 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The local currency is the peso. Many shops will accept U.S. dollars and major credit cards. Cuisine Outdoor cafés are available in town if you fancy a cold drink or a quick snack. Other Sites All of the island’s sights are covered on the San Andres Island Drive. Beaches Swimmers, snorkelers and sun seekers will find beach facilities right in town. One of the hotels also features water sport rentals. Johnny Cay can be reached via local boats departing from the waterfront. However, be aware that winds are fairly strong between November and January, which may cause delays for your return boat ride. There are no tourist facilities on Johnny Cay. Private cars/vans are not available in this port, except for taxis.

Unique Features

AzAmazing Evenings®

One-of-a-kind, complimentary, immersive cultural experiences exclusively created for Azamara guests, continuing our commitment to Destination Immersion®. First launched in 2011 to inspire guests to dive deeper into the heart of each destination, these extraordinary evenings showcase music, art, and culinary traditions in unique settings where authentic culture truly comes alive.

Most AzAmazing Evenings® take place ashore, often in iconic venues while the ship stays late in port, aligning with our hallmark of Destination Immersion®, bringing guests closer to local culture in remarkable locations. On select occasions, including seven- and eight-night itineraries, equally captivating experiences are brought onboard.

*For sailings of 9 nights or longer, exceptions may occur when local infrastructure does not allow for an onshore event; in such cases, the experience will be hosted onboard. In rare cases—such as select transoceanic crossings or charters—AzAmazing Evenings® will not be offered

Dining Options
  • Aqualina:

At Aqualina, you’ll find some of Italy’s most authentic dishes. Pastas made from scratch, traditional recipes, and scrumptious vegetarian dishes that make sure there’s something for everyone. Plus our famous desserts: Sorrento lemon liqueur mousse, hazelnut chocolate soufflé and more.

  • Prime C:

Your choice of steak, cooked to perfection. Herb-coated rack of lamb, duck confit and Chilean sea bass—all paired with savory sides. At Prime C, you’re in for more than delectable dining. Expect a great evening with stunning views and lush décor.

  • Discoveries Restaurant:

Discover the world through dishes and flavors from the places we visit. Of course, you’ll also enjoy a wide variety of nightly selections such as filet mignon with black truffle sauce. Choose being seated at a table for two or as part of a larger group of fellow guests.

  • Windows Café:

Our daily themed dinner often takes its inspiration from the region we’re visiting—Indian, Mexican, Spanish, Italian. We also create an extra live station made from local ingredients purchased in port: Greek salad made with local feta (Greece), pasta prepared with local mushrooms (Italy), fresh Mussels served with garlic bread (Netherlands).

  • The Patio And Swirl & Top:

Casual “pool grill” by day. A sit-down al fresco dining experience by night. Taste your way around the world with exclusive personalized dishes using local flavors of the places we visit. Plus a self-serve frozen yogurt station—Swirl & Top. With a variety of flavors and your choice of toppings, it’s the perfect way to cool off.

  • Mosaic Café:

Stylish and cozy, Mosaic offers your favorite coffee drinks exactly as you like them. Relax in a comfortable seat and enjoy. It’s the perfect spot to start or end your day, and it just might become your favorite place on the ship.

  • Room Service:

The best time for room service? Whenever you say it is, 24-hours a day. Order from the full breakfast menu between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM, and we’ll deliver at your appointed time. Lunch and dinner room service features a menu of hearty soups, fresh salads, gourmet sandwiches, pizzas and desserts.

Azamara® will make every effort to accommodate your needs wherever and whenever possible. We can best accommodate the special concerns of our guests with advance notice.

When packing, be sure to include a sufficient supply of all prescription medicines you require.

    • Wheelchair accessible staterooms, activities and services

    Accessible Staterooms

An Azamara voyage, first and foremost, is about feeling relaxed and comfortable in your boutique hotel at sea. Our accessible staterooms are specially designed for guests with mobility disabilities and other disabilities, and include features to ensure ease and relaxation.

These staterooms range from 227 square feet to 324 square feet, offering a generous five-foot turning radius in sleeping and sitting areas, and bathrooms for easy maneuverability.

From “Bon Voyage” to “Bye For Now”

Our accessibility services extend beyond the time you spend on board. We’re here to help before you even get to the ship, getting on and off, and getting to shore during your voyage. Just let us know in advance—the more notice we have, the more prepared we’ll be when you join us for your immersive cruise.

    Airport Transportation

If requested in advance, Azamara® can arrange for accessible transportation to transfer guests between the airport and the pier. This service is offered at no extra charge to our air/sea guests or those who have purchased cruise-only transfers. Accessible airport transportation may be limited or not available outside the U.S. See a travel agent or contact us for details.

    Extra Assistance at the Pier

We offer boarding and departure assistance with wheelchairs for guests with mobility disabilities. While we ask that you let us know if you need this service in advance of your sailing date, you may request it once you arrive at the pier. During peak times there may be a wait for assistance.

While many ports provide easy access for wheelchairs and scooters, conditions may preclude guests using assistive devices from getting on or off the ship at certain ports. These conditions include: steepness of gangways, tendering, weather, tidal and sea conditions, and shore-side facilities.

We will make every reasonable effort to assist our guests, but for safety reasons, our staff is not permitted to lift guests or equipment. Assistance with manual wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc. will be provided.

    Traveling From Ship to Shore

At some ports, the ship anchors offshore, and guests will be taken to shore by small boats called tenders. Even if the ship is scheduled to dock at a pier, it can change to tendering at any time.

Guests using assistive devices who are unable to take a few steps will not be able to board tenders. In order to safely board most tenders, guests must be able to take steps and use a collapsible manual wheelchair. Additionally, motorized wheelchairs and mobility scooters can not be taken on tenders.

Weather, sea conditions, and other factors may preclude tendering. The safety of our guests and crew is our primary consideration, and the Captain and his staff will make the final decision regarding transferring guests and their assistive devices based on safety reasons.

If guests are unable to tender or disembark because of due to these circumstances, there will be no refund or credit for missed ports. While we recognize your disappointment, the safety of our guests and crew is our primary concern.

  • Service Animals:

    Cruising With Your Companion

Your service dog is welcome onboard, and we make every effort to ensure your comfort and theirs. Please note we do not accept pets.

A service dog is defined as "any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability."

    Our Commitment

Evidence that a dog is a service dog (such as identification cards, other written documentation, presence of harnesses and/or tags) is not required, but is helpful for our staff and crew.

We provide 4 foot by 4 foot relief areas with cypress mulch to accommodate service dogs. Relief areas are provided on a shared basis with other service dogs onboard. For sailings from the U.S., sod can be provided if ordered in advance and is available.

Please notify our Access Department as early as time of booking, but no later than 30 days prior to sailing if a relief area is needed.

    Your Responsibility

Service dogs are permitted to accompany their owner in all public areas, including dining venues. While in public areas, service dogs must be on a leash, harness or other restraining device. Due to health regulations, service dogs are not permitted in pools, whirlpools or spas.

Care and supervision of your service dog is your sole responsibility. It is also your responsibility to provide food and care for the dog.

You may bring a reasonable quantity of food and bowls for your dog onboard the ship at no additional charge. If refrigerated space is needed, notify our Access Department as early as time of booking, but no later than 30 days prior to sailing.

  • Medical Needs:

We don’t want anything to hold you back from having an immersive, unforgettable voyage with us. We’ve got the onboard staff and services to assist with your medical needs and make your time with us hassle-free. If you have another type of medical condition not listed below, please inquire about policies and procedures that may affect your voyage.

    Onboard Physicians

Every Azamara vessel is equipped with a medical facility. At least one licensed physician and one nurse are generally in attendance on all Azamara® voyages. Select medical services and medications are available for a fee, though medication types are limited. While we’re here to help with any medical issues that arise, our medical facilities are not intended as clinics for guests, and Azamara is not responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, or services furnished by shipboard medical personnel, who are independent contractors.

    Dialysis

Guests requiring continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis are welcome onboard all Azamara vessels. However, Azamara does not have the ability to assist or administer hemodialysis treatments. Guests using peritoneal dialysis should have all solutions and equipment needed to perform the dialysis delivered to the vessel on the day of sailing at least two hours prior to departure. Please contact us for more information on dialysis policies and procedures.

    Oxygen

All types of oxygen are permitted onboard. Please notify us as to the quantity, type and delivery schedule. Each vessel has a different storage policy; however, you will be able to keep some or all of your cylinders in your stateroom.

    Pregnancy

Expectant mothers are welcome, however Azamara cannot accept guests who will be more than 23 weeks pregnant at any time during the cruise or cruisetour. All guests are required to sign a health questionnaire at check-in to ensure they are aware of our pregnancy policy. If you have already booked a cruise or CruiseTour and do not meet this requirement, please contact your Travel Agent or contact us for assistance.

    Infants

Infants sailing on a cruise must be at least six months old as of the first day of the cruise and/or CruiseTour. Note: For transatlantic, transpacific, Hawaii, select South America and other selected cruises and/or CruiseTours, the infant must be at least 12 months old as of the first day of the cruise/CruiseTour. Any cruise that has three or more consecutive days at sea will require infants to be 12 months old on the first day of the cruise/CruiseTour.

Please be aware that guests traveling with a young infant that does not meet the infant policy will be denied boarding. No refunds or other compensation shall be due from the cruise line to anyone as a result of the denial of boarding to an underage infant or other accompanying guests.

Note: If you have another type of medical condition that has not been mentioned, please inquire about policies and procedures that may affect your voyage.
